I’ve been married to my wife Maryanne for over 42 years, and together we’ve raised three sons—Jayson, Colin, and Dave. Coming from a long line of tradespeople, with both my father and grandfather working as sheet metal workers, it felt only natural for me to follow in their footsteps and enter the trades myself. I’m proud to now have my son Dave working alongside me at MAK Mechanical.
I founded MAK Mechanical 33 years ago after realizing that the company I was working for didn’t align with my ethics. I wanted to create a business that was transparent, trustworthy, and committed to delivering honest, high-quality HVAC service. What started with a borrowed pickup truck from a neighbor has since grown into a company with 30 trucks and a strong, skilled team of service and installation professionals. Today, we manage everything from large-scale commercial projects to smaller residential and commercial installations.
Community service has always been important to me. I’m an active member of Rotary and have served as past president of the Kempenfelt Rotary Club, as well as District Governor for District 7010 in 2017–2018, overseeing 44 clubs. Travel is another passion, and through Rotary, I’ve participated in several international friendship exchanges that have enriched both my personal and professional life.
One of my greatest sources of pride is seeing individuals enter the trades and grow—not just in skill, but in confidence and character. At MAK, we invest heavily in training because we believe in helping people reach their full potential.
These days, I find a lot of joy in mentoring and coaching staff, spending quality time with my six grandchildren, and working on my project cars or watching car racing. I’m looking forward to the challenges and opportunities the future holds at MAK Mechanical.

Mike Barber serves as Operations Manager at Mak Mechanical, bringing more than 25 years of experience in sales leadership and operations management. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from York University and has spent his career building efficient teams, refining processes, and ensuring consistent, high-quality service delivery.
Mike is proud to be part of the Mak Mechanical team because of its commitment to workmanship, accountability, and treating both customers and employees with respect. He values the company’s focus on doing the job right the first time and fostering a culture where professionalism and growth go hand in hand.

I am passionate about working collaboratively with teams to solve complex challenges, drive continuous improvement, and ensure finance is strategically aligned with broader business goals.

As a Project Manager and Estimator at MAK Mechanical, I bring 18 years of experience in the mechanical trades—10 years in the field and the past 8 years in the office. I oversee projects from conception to completion, including estimating, design, takeoffs, measurements, and closeout documentation. I hold a 308A Full Sheet Metal License and a G2 Natural Gas & Propane License, and I have previously held welding tickets. In addition, I possess a G driver’s license, boating license, firearms license (PAL), and forklift certification.
What I find most rewarding in my role are the more complex and challenging projects, particularly design-build work that requires thoughtful planning and creative problem-solving. I also take pride in managing large-scale projects, where attention to detail during the bidding process is essential to remain competitive while capturing the full scope of work. I appreciate that MAK Mechanical supports a healthy work-life balance, allowing me the flexibility to pursue my hobbies while maintaining high performance in my role.

My role includes preparing estimates, supporting service operations, project coordination, job closeout activities, managing work orders, and supporting service performance through effective use of Service Fusion and technician activity tracking.
I hold a degree in Mechanical and have 10 years of experience supporting commercial and service based mechanical projects, have strong skills in system coordination, documentation control, and cost.
I enjoy being part of the MAK Mechanical team because of the collaborative work environment, the variety of projects, and the opportunity to continuously learn and contribute to improving processes and overall efficiency.

I am the lead service technician at Mak Mechanical. I have worked at MAK for close to 15 years. I am a G1 gas technician, 313A refrigeration and air systems mechanic, and 308R sheet metal technician.
I enjoy working at Mak with the large variety of work we do and the challenges that come with it. I also enjoy our friendly work environment.

I went to North American trade school for my gas ticket and im going to Mohawk College for my refrigeration. Ive been at MAK for 3 years.

At MAK Mechanical, my role is to provide top-quality service that ensures customer satisfaction, keeping homes warm in the winter and cool in the summer. I specialize in servicing all natural gas and propane appliances.
I graduated from the Georgian College Gas Technician program in 2014 and bring over 12 years of hands-on experience in the trade.
